PRESS: AvtoVAZ to stop producing Lada Priora cars in July

MOSCOW, May 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ plans to halt production of Lada Priora cars in July, business daily Vedomosti reported Tuesday citing the company’s letter to dealers.

The production plan for July also doesn’t comprise models of co-platform Granta and Kalina. AvtoVAZ is ceasing production of pre-restyled versions of these cars and is preparing to launch production of restyled models in the X-style.

Production of Lada Priora started in 2007 and it was the leader of Lada car sales at one time. There have been rumors during several years that AvtoVAZ can halt production of obsolescent Priora cars, the daily said.
